Structural Workshop Announces New Headquarters in Historic Boonton National Bank Building

A New Home with Deep Roots

We are excited to announce that Structural Workshop is officially relocating our headquarters to the historic Boonton National Bank Building at 612 Main Street in Boonton, New Jersey later this summer.

As a structural engineering and forensic consulting firm dedicated to understanding how buildings perform, endure, and evolve over time, we couldn’t imagine a more fitting place to call home. This remarkable building has stood as a centerpiece of downtown Boonton for well over a century, and we are honored to become part of its next chapter.

A Landmark Rich in History

Boonton’s story is deeply rooted in industry and innovation. Founded around the ironworks established along the Rockaway River in the 1700s, the town grew into one of New Jersey’s thriving industrial communities. By the late 1800s, Main Street had become the commercial heart of Boonton, serving generations of businesses and residents.

In 1890, local merchants established the Boonton National Bank, creating a financial institution that would serve the community for decades. Chartered as National Bank #4274, the bank was one of thousands across the country authorized to issue its own federally backed currency—a fascinating chapter in American banking history. Today, surviving Boonton National Bank notes remain prized by collectors and serve as lasting reminders of the institution’s legacy.

Preserving an Architectural Treasure

Located adjacent to Boonton’s iconic Soldiers and Sailors Monument, the three-story brick building at 612 Main Street has remained a defining feature of the downtown streetscape since the early 1900s. Its timeless architecture, expansive windows, impressive ceilings, and carefully preserved historic character make it one of Main Street’s most recognizable buildings.

Over the years, the building has adapted to meet the needs of different occupants while retaining the architectural integrity that has allowed it to endure for generations.

A Natural Fit for Structural Workshop

Every day, our engineers evaluate structures, investigate building performance, and help owners preserve and protect their investments. Moving into a building that has stood strong for more than a century carries special meaning for our entire team.

This building represents exactly what we value: thoughtful design, quality construction, resilience, and responsible stewardship. We are proud to care for a historic landmark that has served the Boonton community for generations while creating a modern workspace that will support our continued growth.

Looking Ahead

Our new headquarters marks an exciting milestone for Structural Workshop as we continue expanding our structural engineering, forensic engineering, and building consulting services throughout New Jersey, New York, and beyond.

We look forward to welcoming clients, partners, colleagues, and friends to our new office at 612 Main Street and becoming an active part of Boonton’s vibrant downtown community.

Here’s to preserving the past while engineering the future.
